If you plan to install an ice machine it is strongly recommended that you read what the ice maker installation requirements are before doing so. The list of ice maker installation requirements includes:
Water inlet valve must be in place. It should be a ¾” male thread and should include a shut-off valve.
Electricity supply must be within the applicable range.
Cool and well ventilated position for the ice machine.
Ground floor or level drain.
Location far enough from appliances which cause heat distribution such as stoves and tumble driers.
Dust free and heat free environment.
Indoor location for the ice maker.
The better the conditions for the ice maker installation, the better the operation of the machine will be. Dust build-up will cause regular maintenance problems and warmer locations will cost you money because more energy will be used to produce the ice.

Be sure to check the installation requirements for your Scotsman ice machines as the correct procedures must be followed to ensure that the warranty stays applicable. The installation requirements for Scotsman ice machines include that electricity supply, water inlet valve 3/4″ male thread with as shut-off valve, and a ground or floor level drain of 40 mm must be within one meter of the installation point. The checks must be done on the startup registration form. The Scotsman ice machines come with a warranty of 12 months from installation date in South Africa. The warranty covers the replacement of faulty parts or manufacturing mistakes. An extended warranty is available for a further 12 month period if the Scotsman ice machines are serviced in our workshops. The only Scotsman ice machines which have a shorter period cover are the ice flakers which come with a 6 months warranty.
