A well maintained ice maker will be more productive, lower on maintenance costs, ensure healthier ice, and will also be more economical. Since more ice is used during the spring and warm summer months than in the fall and cooler winter months, the best time for ice machine maintenance is during the coldest winter months. It is about the only time that you will be able to go without the ice maker for a day or two and in some cases only hours. Plan the ice machine maintenance well ahead to ensure that you have enough ice for the time that it is serviced. Since most machines are serviced at our workshop, we recommend that you make provision for enough ice supply to carry you through the period. Upon making an appointment for ice machine maintenance inquire about the time frame and act pro-actively to ensure that business can go on as usual.

Ice extruded at sub zero temperatures and pressed is known as flake ice. The flake ice has low humidity content and super flake ice is even drier and obtained through an evaporation & ice breaking method. Both flake and super flake ice is used in labs, hospital theatres and any industry where hygiene is of paramount importance. Restaurants, supermarkets, fisheries and meat processing plants also make use of flake ice and its super compressed version, super flake ice to keep perishables fresh, cool, sterile etc. Some of the most remarkable fish and seafood displays in supermarkets can only be possible through the use of scale and flake ice. View the Scotsman range of ice makers that can be purchased and serviced through us.

Scale ice is used in supermarkets to keep produce on display fresh. The scale ice is produced at a temperature range of between – 6 and -12 degrees Celsius and the ice can also vary in thickness from 1.5 to 3 mm depending on the industry in which it is used whether meat or fish. The scale ice makes for attractive displaying of foods, but is also used in the transportation of perishable goods to keep the produce fresh and cool. Fishing trailers benefit from the salt water based Scotsman scale ice maker models whilst retailers use the fresh water models. The salt water types are designed specifically for the conditions on board fishing boats at sea and thus robust in design and rust resistant. View our range of Scotsman scale ice makers and contact us for a machine suitable for your specific requirements.

The Scotsman modular low humidity ice makers incorporate a cylinder type evaporating system that extracts ice with the use of an ice breaking system. The low humidity ice derived through this process also known as super flake is exceptionally clean and free from impurities. The low humidity ice obtained through this process is hygienic, suitable for labs, hospitals, food processing plants, and commercial applications. The ice has low water content and thus melts very slowly. Produce in transportation can be kept fresh for longer without the risk of premature melting of the ice. The low humidity ice is well suited for keeping produce with high moisture content cool. We stock a range of Scotsman super flake ice machines which are easy to clean, come in stainless steel frames, and embody various safety features.

Super flake ice making machines in the Scotsman range includes four models which produce between 320 and 2300 kg a day. The super flake ice is made through a process where the ice is squeezed ensuring the flaky form after also being pressed ensuring that an exceptionally low water level is left in the flakes. This leaves the ice dry and prolongs the time taken to melt. The super flake ice machines of Scotsman have unique characteristics obtained from combining the attributes of granular ice and lower humidity ice ensuring slow melting.
The Scotsman super flake ice making machines in the MR model range come with various advanced features including safety alarms, infrared optical sensor equipment and electronic control monitoring to ensure correct functioning of the components. The machines are economical and with their control systems in place, cost of maintenance is kept at a minimum.
