Use Your ‘X’ Power!

Monday, April 20th, 2009

In less than 48 hours many South Africans will be standing in mile long cues outside polling stations to cast their vote in what has been deemed the most important election since 1994. On the one hand the ANC and their multimillion rand election campaign putting Jacob Zuma forward as their next president. On the other hand a sea of oppostion parties and personalities, most notably the DA, VF+, IFP, ID and the newest addition COPE.

Unfortunately for South Africans, this year’s election has degenerated into a war of words amongst leaders of the opposition and the ANC, each one doing their best to rubbish the name of their political adversories. Now before you get hyped up because Zuma “deserves his day in court” or COPE “is just collective noun for the “criminals” in Mbeki’s administration”, or that Helen Zille is “just another leader of a weak white party.”

The thing that I found missing from this election was the parties policy manifestos, usually the ANC pushes the idea of service delivery. This year their manifesto was the face of Jacob Zuma on a poster. The DA said almost nothing about what the had planned if they were voted into office but had almost every announcement designed to rubbish at Zuma! The ID alluded ever so lightly to the criminals in parlament.

We all know politicians are corrupt and thieves, you do not have to point that out, but rather tell us why your party is different, why you are not corrupt and why you wont be a thief!

Ok so not all parties took the moral high road and promoted their parties above rubbishing others, but the truth is they do actually have manifestos, and I took the time to get the links out for you. Just click on the party name!

ANC

COPE

DA

ID

IFP

FF+

I do hope that all South Africans take the time to consider who they are voting for, sometimes voting for a party just because you always have is not the answer. Take the time to look at their promises, their leaders and their values. Vote for the party that will fulfill its promises to you!

This is an important election and i trust all of you will vote and vote responsibly! Come on everyone go out and use your ‘X’ power!

Oh and before i forget: check out ice systems at the Vaal Business expo on the 16th and 17th of May!
