Thought there is only one type of ice? Think again. There are various ice types suitable for specific purposes. Three of the main ice types are:

Cube ice

This is the most used ice for bars and restaurant drinks. The whole cube gives that special sound in the glass. Half size ice cubes displace more liquid than the full size types, restaurant owners don’t have to fill the glass so full with a beverage.

Flaked ice

You will find flaked ice in the superette where it holds drinks, fish and salads cold. The flaked ice ensures longer cooling and is thus ideal for food storage and display.

Nugget type ice

It is small and you will normally encounter them in smoothies. The ice is highly compressed and very chewable. The benefit is faster cooling of the beverage.
