A well maintained ice maker will be more productive, lower on maintenance costs, ensure healthier ice, and will also be more economical. Since more ice is used during the spring and warm summer months than in the fall and cooler winter months, the best time for ice machine maintenance is during the coldest winter months. It is about the only time that you will be able to go without the ice maker for a day or two and in some cases only hours. Plan the ice machine maintenance well ahead to ensure that you have enough ice for the time that it is serviced. Since most machines are serviced at our workshop, we recommend that you make provision for enough ice supply to carry you through the period. Upon making an appointment for ice machine maintenance inquire about the time frame and act pro-actively to ensure that business can go on as usual.

Super flake ice making machines in the Scotsman range includes four models which produce between 320 and 2300 kg a day. The super flake ice is made through a process where the ice is squeezed ensuring the flaky form after also being pressed ensuring that an exceptionally low water level is left in the flakes. This leaves the ice dry and prolongs the time taken to melt. The super flake ice machines of Scotsman have unique characteristics obtained from combining the attributes of granular ice and lower humidity ice ensuring slow melting.
The Scotsman super flake ice making machines in the MR model range come with various advanced features including safety alarms, infrared optical sensor equipment and electronic control monitoring to ensure correct functioning of the components. The machines are economical and with their control systems in place, cost of maintenance is kept at a minimum.

Annual ice machine servicing is important to ensure that your machine keeps on working at the best possible level. The lifespan of the ice machine is lengthened when regular cleaning is done. Ice machine servicing holds the benefit of killing harmful or potentially harmful bacteria. The machine productivity will be improved if all the working parts are serviced and the unit thoroughly cleaned, saving you money and ensuring that more ice can be produced in the same time. Rust removal as well as the removal of scale build-up will ensure less wear and tear on the machine parts. This will ensure that the maintenance costs are kept at a minimum and reduce the risk of potential breakdowns. We provide annual ice machine servicing at our workshop. If it is a three phase machine or a larger tonnage type we will service it onsite at your premises.

No doubt energy costs make up a large chunk of your overheads when you have a sportsbar, restaurant, coffee shop or convenience store. You can save on energy costs associated with the ice machine production by following the tips below.
Station the ice machine in a cool place to ensure that it need less energy to produce ice.
Place the ice machine in a spot with enough ventilation to prevent it from becoming warm
Regularly remove scales from the ice machine as it will restrict water flow and cause energy wastage as the icemaker will have to work harder to produce ice.
Delime regularly with acid cleaners to optimize production
Let the ice machine produce the bulk in off-peak hours as the tariffs will be lower.
The final tip is to contact us for an annual service of the ice machine to ensure lower operating costs.
