South Africa Ready For 2010?
Monday, June 29th, 2009Is South Africa ready for the soccer world cup 2010?
After watching the Confederations Cup and seeing the stadiums and crowd control, the pomp and ceremony surrounding the games and all the interest created in the home side one can not doubt that South African Soccer has done a great job, and I think it shows promise for the World Cup.
Sure we had our fair share of problems, the Pharoas getting robbed after a “questionable” evening out on the town, the park and ride facilities were not up to scratch and of course all the complaining about the Vuvuzela!
But I think the Confederations Cup in its entirety was a major success and a huge surprise to the South African public (Always the most pessimistic of the lot).
Another point to mention is Bafana Bafana’s performance! To lose 1-0 to Brazil the champions of the Confed Cup and that in the dying minutes. Or their 2-0 defeat of New Zealand, which was said to be a true test of the Bafana Bafana team. And their final bout with Torres and the Champions of Europe settled at a 3-2 loss but an outstanding game nonetheless. I think South Africa can be proud of the team’s performance and look forward to watching them at the World Cup in 2010.
As Scotsman is an Italian brand we must support Italy out of loyalty… But we are all South Africans, and our blood is green! Ice Systems will support both teams next year, but we hope South Africa teach the rest of the world a lesson in African football!
